                            Medical coding is the process by which a healthcare practitioner or a doctor converts a patient's healthcare diagnosis, therapy received, and medical processes into alphanumeric codes. Medical billing is the process of sending these medical codes to insurance companies in order to claim insurance for reimbursement. These codes must be correct because they comprise the entire payment process.

                             Medical Coders uses a set of previously assigned codes for coding purposes, which includes, ICD, CPT and HCPCS Codes. CPT Codes are procedural codes while HCPCS Codes are codes denoting equipments used during a healthcare services. ICD Codes are International Classification of Diseases or ICD codes are a set of diagnostic codes which describes signs and symptoms, diagnosis of a patient and more details reagrding the patient. For instance ICD Code S06.0 denotes concussions. 

                 Concussion is a hit to the head or a forceful shaking of the head and body might induce a brain injury. Headache, disorientation, lack of coordination, memory loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, ringing in the ears, sleepiness, and excessive weariness are all possible symptoms.

Other concussion indications and symptoms include:
  • Confusion or the sensation of being in a fog
  • Amnesia as a result of the tragic event
  • Feeling dizzy or "seeing stars"
