MEDICAL CODING
Medical coding is the practice of providing a unique code to each diagnosis and operation that a healthcare provider documents. This code is then used to charge insurance companies, track medical data, and generate statistics.
A Medical Coder is in charge of assigning codes to medical diagnoses and procedures in order to facilitate reimbursement, research, and data collecting. They examine medical records for diagnoses and procedures, and then assign codes to those data. They must comprehend the coding systems and be able to accurately apply such codes. They must be fluent in medical vocabulary and anatomy, as well as be well-versed in coding systems and laws. They must also possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Responsibilities of a Medical Coder includes :
