MEDICAL CODING
The process of translating diagnoses, procedures, services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes, which are subsequently used to establish a patient's medical record, is known as medical coding.
Medical Coders employ a set of allocated codes to do coding tasks. CPT codes, or Current Procedural Terminology, for example, offer the codes for procedures performed throughout a healthcare process. HCPCS codes, which stand for Healthcare Common Procedural Coding Systems, are codes that indicate the equipment that is used. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes denote diagnosis. For instance ICD code, K20.0 denotes Eosinophilic esophagitis.
Eosinophilic esophagitis is a long-term immune system disorder. An eosinophil, a type of white blood cell, accumulates in the lining of the tube that connects your mouth to your stomach in this condition. This tube is also known as the esophagus.
Symptoms may include :
- Swallowing difficulty, commonly known as dysphagia
- Food becoming lodged in the esophagus after swallowing is referred to as impaction.
- Chest pain that is frequently placed in the center and does not respond to antacids
- Regurgitation refers to the backflow of undigested food.
