                                 A Medical Coder is someone who basically transforms a patient's healthcare information from the physician's notes into globally accepted alphanumeric codes, such as procedures, diagnoses, necessary medical equipment, and medical services information. When a patient visits or meets with a doctor, the providers document the visit or service in the patient's medical record and explain why specific services, items, or procedures were provided. During the medical coding procedure, coders employ specific codes. 

                                      
             Medical Coders uses a set of previously assigned codes for coding purposes. Which includes ICD, CPT and HCPCS Codes. Interantional Classification of Diseases or ICD Codes are set of diagnostic codes which includes diagnosis of a patient. CPT codes are procedural codes while, HCPCS codes are equipment used during a healthcare services. 

                  For instance ICD Code D56.9 denotes, Thalassemia. Thalassemia is an inherited blood condition in which your body produces less hemoglobin than usual. Hemoglobin allows red blood cells to transport oxygen. Thalassemia can result in anemia, which causes weariness. You may not need therapy if you have mild thalassemia. Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, paleness and slow growth.
