MEDICAL CODING
Medical Coding is the process of converting a patients' healthcare diagnosis, treatment received, prescriptions, equipment used into alphanumeric codes. These codes are important as they make whole payment process for the patient. Medical Billers bill these codes to the insurance companies to claim insurance for the payment purpose. Hence these codes must be accurate.
Medical Coders uses a set of previously assigned codes for generating codes, like ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes. ICD Codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of diagnostic codes set by WHO. These codes contains diagnosis, signs and symptoms and causes of death or illness. For instance ICD Code, H90.2 denotes Conductive Hearing Loss.
Conductive hearing loss is a condition in which the sound cannot get through the outer and middle ear. It will be hard to hear soft sounds. Louder sounds can be heard in softer way. Treatment may include taking medicine or surgery.
Causes of Conductive hearing loss may includes :
- Fluid in your middle ear from colds and allergies.
- Benign tumors.
- Some infections.
- Object stuck in your outer ear.
