                            Medical Coding is the conversion of a patient's healthcare diagnosis, prescriptions, treatment received, equipment used, and other procedures by a healthcare professional into alphanumeric codes. Medical Billers bills these generated codes to insurance companies to claim insurance. These codes must be accurate as they make up the whole payment claim.

                         Medical Coders use a set of previously assigned codes for coding purpose. These codes includes ICD, CPT and HCPCS. ICD codes are set of diagnosis codes, which contains signs and symptoms or any abnormal findings on a patient. For instance ICD code, L84 denotes Callus on Skin.  

                            A callus is a rough, thickened area of skin that appears because of repeated irritation or pressure to an area of skin. Calluses usually develop on the palm of the hand and soles of feet. Calluses aren't due to underlying diseases. Examples include poorly fitting shoes, frequent use of tools or instruments, frequently walking barefoot or frequent friction to an area of skin.

                              CPT Codes are Current Procedural Terminology are the codes which denotes procedures done in a healthcare system. HCPCS codes or Healthcare Common Procedural Coding System are the standardized codes for denoting equipment used during healthcare system.
