MEDICAL CODING
Medical Coding is the process of analyzing clinical reports and notes of a patient from a doctor and assigning codes to them accordingly. Medical coders generate these codes by following the coding guidelines and laws and following a set of previously assigned codes, which includes ICD, CPT and HCPCS codes.
ICD Codes or International Classification of Diseases are set of codes published and managed by World Health Organizations. These codes contains signs and symptoms, diagnosis, or any other abnormal findings in a patient. For instance, ICD Code M27. 40 denotes Cyst of Jaw.
Jaw tumors and cysts are relatively rare growths or lesions that develop in jawbone or the soft tissues in the mouth and face. They can vary greatly in size and severity. Symptoms of the cyst may include tooth sensitive, swelling, bone pain, numbness, tenderness and unexplained tooth mobility. They are usually discovered during a x-ray routine. The cause of cyst of jaw is not known, but some are associate with genetic mutations. Treatment usually involves surgical care or medical therapy.
