                                  The conversion of a doctor's prescription, diagnosis, and other relevant medical services received by a patient into globally recognised codes is known as medical coding. Medical coding is the process of abstracting medical information from available paperwork, assigning the appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes, and enabling the process of creating a claim to be sent to payers. Accurate reimbursements require high-quality medical coding. 

                     A medical coder must be well-versed in medical language, anatomy and physiology, clinical procedures, diseases, injuries, and other ailments, medical illustrations, clinical documentation, legal and ethical elements of health information, and so on.

                               Medical coders are responsible for appropriately assigning codes to the patient's medical record, ensuring that medical treatments are invoiced correctly. They must also check that the codes assigned are current and adhere to current coding standards.

                               Medical Coders code using a set of previously assigned codes such as ICD, CPT, and HCPCS. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes are a set of diagnostic codes. CPT codes, which stand for Current Procedural Terminology, are procedure codes. HCPCS codes are used to identify equipment used in the healthcare procedure.
