MEDICAL CODING
The process of turning a patient's medical procedures, diagnoses, processes, used equipment, and treatments into alphanumeric codes is known as medical coding. These codes are subsequently billed to insurance providers in order to submit insurance claims for payment. These are referred to as medical billing procedures. For coding purposes, medical coders employ a set of allocated codes. They mostly consist of ICD, CPT, and HCPCS.
Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System is known as HCPCS. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) created a set of codes that are used to categorize medical procedures and services for billing purposes.
The common codes used by healthcare practitioners to describe medical, surgical, and diagnostic services and procedures to insurers are called CPT codes (Current Procedural Terminology codes). They are a component of the American Medical Association's code set and are used to simplify billing.
The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes are a system of medical coding that healthcare professionals use to categorize and record diagnoses and procedures. They are employed in the diagnosis of illnesses, disorders, wounds, and other medical situations.
